We prayerfully desire that the mission of God in raising up redeemed worshippers of all nations be fulfilled. Therefore, we are involved in helping as best we can to provide for those doing work in the far corners of the world in sharing the Gospel and providing much needed relief to the poorest of the poor. In addition to work supported in our own community, below are some of the ministries that we support.
"Mayatima" is the Swahili word for orphan. There are plenty of them just west of Nairobi. There are an estimated 4,000 children who have lost one or both parents. This project helps these children through a foster care program. Working with local Kenyan volunteers, it places children in homes and helps support them and their host families. That support comes in the form of child sponsorship, a farm that produces eggs and milk, and a medical ministry that give special attention to the children who have AIDS.
According to UNICEF, it was estimated that 100,000 children were living on the streets of Senegal, mostly in the capital, Dakar. They are victims of poverty, violence, and drugs. The ‘Talibés’ are young boys, ranging from three to 14 who have been handed over by their parents to Koranic Teachers called ‘Marabouts’, where they are exploited and abused.
The McCarthys operate the “Xaley Boroom Bi (Children of our Lord) Center” in which they seek to minister to these children through food, hygiene, education, & spiritual and emotional care.
Philip’s house is a ministry that helps abandoned children and orphans in an orphan house in a small Romanian village. It is run by a local pastor and his family. Currently there are 10 kids in the house receiving food, education, aid, etc. In addition to the house itself, our gift also help to send some of the children to other boarding schools where they can receive a better education.
Since July 2004 Andrew has been pastoring the 'Cristo Viene' (Christ is Coming) church in Algeciras, Southern Spain. This historic congregation was on the verge of closing before the Reid's arrival. However, with a little encouragement and leadership the church has regained its joyful witness and we have seen a succession of adults and children won to the Lord.
Andrew and Ruth have 4 children: Naomi, Ana, Reuben, and Matthew
